Money Series Lesson 9: How does a wealthy person think about money?

One of the most important things you can ever learn how to do is how to have money. The skill and ability to have money has everything to do with your relationship with money.

It doesn’t have to do with what money can buy you. Knowing this difference is everything when it comes to being able to keep your money and make wise spending habits and investments.

How you feel about having money is going to determine how much money you have.

Since thoughts cause your feelings— first off identifying what your current beliefs about money are is extremely important. Second, deciding on purpose how you’ll start think about money is the second most important step in creating wealth.

The more comfortable you are having money without spending it, the more money you’ll have.

You can do anything.

When you change your mindset you can be a wealthy person just like that. It's not that it doesn't take work, because it does. And the bonus is when you change your mindset around money you'll understand how to change it about all things in your life — it's super exciting and totally doable.

It’s not about the money (and how you will spend it or even invest it) as much as it is about who you’ll have to become to create wealth.

You need to talk to your mind more than you listen to it. You get to choose what you think, your brain does not get to dictate what you think unless you let it. You don’t have to believe all the thoughts that you have. So don’t listen to your brain and just run with it. Learn how to talk to your brain, instead of letting it do all the talking, and you all the believing.

Some important questions to answer— to get you thinking about your ability to HAVE money and BE a wealthy woman:

  1. What are you spending money on that decreases in value as soon as you buy it? Make a list of 5 things.

  2. What do you want your money philosophy to be? Write down 5 examples.

  3. If you had 10x as much money in your life, what would be different? What would be exactly the same? LOVE this question. Answer it with gusto.

One of my favorite books on creating wealth is the “Millionaire Mind—Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth,” by T. Harv Eker.

If you don’t know how to think about money, try practicing his declarations to start. Find evidence for them in your life. Place one hand over your heat and declare:

“My inner world creates my outer world.”

“What I heard about money isn’t necessarily true. I choose to adopt new ways of thinking that support my happiness and success.”

“What I modeled around money was their way. I choose my way.”

“I release my unsupportive money experiences from the past and create a new and rich future.”

“I observe my thoughts and entertain only those that empower me.”

“I create the exact amount of my financial success.”

“My goal is to become a millionaire and more. “

“I commit to being rich.”

“I think big. I choose to help thousands and thousands of people.”

“I promote my value to others with passion and enthusiasm.”

“I am an excellent receiver. I am open and willing to receive massive amounts of money in my life.”

“I choose to get paid based on my results.”

“I always think both, not either or.”

“I focus on building my net worth.”

“I am an excellent money manager.”

“My money works hard for me and makes me more and more money.”

“I am committed to constantly learning and growing.”

Harv suggest after stating each declaration (you get extra benefit and credit for saying them out loud in front of a mirror), you touch your head and say—-

“I have a millionaire mind.”

Take your money mindset seriously.

Hire a success coach like myself if you notice that your programmed money beliefs are hard to debunk, or you find that your mind wants to hold rigidly to them. If you want to be wealthy and you’re not yet, it’s sure evidence that your old programed money blueprint is being acted out subconsciously.

Most of us are like one or both of our parents when it comes to money.

And sometimes we rebel against what we were taught and take the opposite direction altogether. I know when I first started this work, I could see my parents’ ways of thinking and dealing with money was definitely affecting me. So I worked on my relationship with money by way of examining and changing my thoughts, feelings and actions about money. Practicing my new ways of believing and healing my relationship with money is how my mindset shifted and wealth became possible and inevitable. This can be you too. And why shouldn’t it be?

If you have doubts you need to do more work to get your head straight about money. Money is such a big issue, that no one person doesn’t have some “issues” around this area of life. But clean it up and create a live you love— with lots of time to spend doing what you really love and want to do with you time and your life. That could look like spending more time with your loved ones, helping the less fortunate if that is what you choose, etc., etc.

I’m telling you women out there, if you need to do this work, stop delaying, start now! Don’t waste anymore time struggling with an old programmed mindset that’ll never serve you and keeps you stuck and playing small.

One of my favorite quotes by Marianne Williamson is always part of my retreats in France, you may’ve heard it before. It goes like this:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

― Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of "A Course in Miracles"

You were all born 100% worthy and lovable. It’s your birthright to BE wealthy, to embody what a wealthy life looks like in all ways. To be abundant in all ways.

Take this work seriously, it can and WILL change your life. I’m happy to help you uncover the belief systems that are keeping you stuck. It helps to have someone help you with your belief systems around money because they tend to be some of the most powerfully held beliefs we develop. I urge you to deprogram the nonsense and adopt a new religion about money and your relationship to it— that serves you, those you love, and allows you to expand into the best version of yourself as a human being on this planet. Others will benefit too. It’s a win-win. It makes all the difference in the world to do this work.

If you haven’t watched “Good Girls,” with Christina Hendricks yet on Netflix, check it out. It disturbingly illustrates the extremes of what can happen with a scarcity mindset. You deserve to have an abundant and healthy mindset when it comes to money. Get to it woman. Go!

And much love to you along your path.
