Plan Your Way to a Successful 2020

One of my favorite first-of-the-year purchases is super nerdy—my annual planner. Some of you may have had your 2020 planner since September, but I haven’t chosen the perfect one yet.

How can you manage your time well.jpg

In researching, I’ve found people have passionate opinions about planner brands—like way more passionate than you’d think. There are so many ways to structure and visualize the hours in your day, which leads to trying all kinds of versions. It’s no wonder when someone finds what works for them, they become brand-loyal enthusiasts.

My fave a few years ago was Passion Planner—super fun and forward-thinking for the “big picture.” I’ve also tried a pretty Day Designer, the classic Franklin Covey, and a minimalist Moleskine. This year I may go with a Hobonichi Techno. Just can’t decide which one!

But I’m not here to sell you on any particular planner—because I haven’t even found my own perfect system yet. This year I’ve been trying to be all-digital via Google Calendar…and, uh…it’s still a work in progress.

My larger point here is that no matter how you do it—its almost impossible to manage your time well if you don’t schedule it out and create large blocks of time to get things done.

A deal-with-emails block.

A check-messages and return-calls block.

An exercise block.

And, yes, even a nap block.

Taking back control of your time is empowering, and there are so many tools out there to help, now more than ever.

The important thing is that you schedule your entire day—even down to the most specific level—and then try to follow it closely. Adjustments can be made along the way.

Here’s to a happy, scheduled, and productive 2020!

This week on a mini Natasha (we'll call her for privacy purposes) felt bad about the new year because of the goals she didn't accomplish last year. During the 30 mins she realized how her thoughts were keeping her from her goals and how she could think to move the ball forward this year!

What are you gonna do and how do you want to feel starting this new year? Jump on a mini and let me help you figure it out!
